Segment LED Displays

Segment LED Displays are sets of several bar-shaped LEDs (light emitting diodes) arranged in a rectangular fashion. Segments are arranged as a rectangle of two vertical segments on each side with one horizontal segment on the top, middle, and bottom. If all elements are activated, the display shows a numeral 8. They can be used to show any single-digit numeral from 0 to 9, and letters A–F by combination of uppercase and lowercase letters. They are simpler and used as an alternative to dot matrix displays. They are used mainly in most of the numeric display applications such as vehicle odometers, speedometers, radio frequency indicators, timers, wristwatches, calculator, digital clocks, clock radios, and others.
