Decoders & Demux

A decoder is a device which takes single input and produces two or more outputs by decoding the input. Its purpose is to route a single input signal into a particular output channel. A Demultiplexer is often used in conjunction with multiplexers to provide a routing methodology which saves space in a layout when there are a high amount of data channels. A Demultiplexer takes a single input signal and selects one of many data-output-lines and transfers the data.
