OCXO - Oven Controlled Crystal Oscillators

A crystal oven is a thermally insulated enclosure used to control the temperature in order to maintain the quartz crystal in a constant temperature, which prevents frequency variation due to temperature fluctuations. An oscillator of this type is known as an oven-controlled crystal oscillator (OCXO). An OCXO is used in applications where highest level of precise and stabilized frequency is required such as satellites, cellular base stations, military communications equipment, radio transmitters, and others.
