New efficient GaN power technology design
Bel offers a wide range of products and solutions for industrial robotic and automation applications. EOS, a bel group, has brought to market the EPG500 and EPG300 families of power supplies targeting industrial applications. With externally supplied forced air cooling, the EPG500 boasts 500W of deliverable power in a 5 x 3 x 1.6 inch envelope while the EPG300 can deliver 300W in a 4 x 2 x 1.6 inch volume. This translates to power densities greater than 20W per cubic inch from a complete solution inclusive of EMI filtering, standard protection features and full agency approvals.
The EPG500 also supports auxiliary outputs for stand by power and external fan power. The ability to achieve this power density, with all protection features and full agency qualifications, was the result of the use of GaN FET technology. Applying this technology from the vantage point of a broad understanding of power supply circuit design led to these state-of-the-art open frame power solutions.
GaN FETs can handle a wider range of temperatures and work well in rugged environments. Communications applications benefit from small, lightweight, and durable designs. The EPG500 and EPG300 fit traditional open frame power supply uses well, particularly in situations where improved power density and increased power is of benefit. The benefits in tougher thermal environments make these products well suited for RF applications and 5G systems in addition to traditional applications.

The EPG300 Series of AC-DC power supplies accommodate a universal input voltage of 90 – 264 VAC, delivering up to 300 W of output power with forced air cooling. The power supplies are available in six single output voltages ranging from 12 V to 58 V.
The EPG500 Series of Industrial AC-DC Power Supplies provides up to 500 W of regulated output power over a wide input range of 90–264 VAC. The power supplies are available in six single output voltages ranging from 12 V to 58 V.
Both can be used in a broad array of space-constrained applications requiring minimal power loss and easy thermal management. RoHS compliant and CE marked, the power supplies are safety agency certified and meet the latest regulatory requirements. Medical versions available, the MEPG500/MEPG300 are suitable for a wide variety of medical applications and are built to the most recent medical standards (EN/IEC 60601-1), with 2 x MOPP isolation options for Class I applications.
