Phil Gallagher - Global President, Electronic Components at Avnet

Phil Gallagher is the global president of electronic components for Avnet. With responsibility for leading the company’s massive broadline components distribution business worldwide, he directs four regional presidents who oversee business and sales operations across the Americas, Europe and Asia Pacific. Gallagher manages Avnet’s Farnell and Newark businesses, which include the design engineering community, element14. He also has responsibility for supplier management, global procurement, and supply chain services. He reports to Avnet CEO Bill Amelio.

Gallagher drives growth for electronic components and services by setting the overall strategy for the business, aligning his global teams to work cooperatively, and by managing supplier relationships. He keeps an experienced eye on product demand across various target vertical markets and a pulse on industry trends. He is known for meeting regularly with customers in order to listen and better understand their needs -- as well as learn about new opportunities from non-traditional customer types.

Gallagher began his career with Avnet in 1982 and has held key executive leadership positions in sales, marketing and operations during his long and successful career with the company. He has served as president of both of Avnet’s business operations, the electronics component business for the Americas from 2004 to 2009, and the IT business globally from 2009 to 2014.

He is also a past president of the National Electronics Distributors’ Association (NEDA), now known as the Electronic Components Industry Association. Gallagher received one of the organization’s highest honors, the Gail S. Carter Award, in 2009.

Gallagher holds a bachelor’s degree from Drexel University.
