Articles
Articles are created in the content library and dynamically placed on the articles main landing page. The articles are listed by date order from newest to oldest. There is also an option to mark an article as a featured article. Featured articles are always listed first regardless of publish date.
To begin creating an article, you need make sure you are in the Articles site area in your specific content library.
Component elements
Please note all elements with an asterisk next to the element title are required.
Example:
Enter the article name. The name is also the end of the article URL. Always use all lower case letters with dashes in between words and no spacing. Example: https://www.avnet.com/wps/portal/us/resources/article/article-url-lower-case
Enter the article indicator. If a featured article enter Featured Article, otherwise enter Article.
Enter the OG URL. It is the same as the production URL.
Select the article type by clicking on Select Category.
The Select a category box will pop up. Click on Article Type to get to the list of categories.
The Select a category box will pop up. Select the categories that apply and click OK.
To start selecting the article categories click the Add Categories link.
Click the Asset Category link to get to all of the articles categories.
Click on the link of the Contents of Asset Category you want to select from. In this example Markets is selected.
Select the boxes next to all of the categories you want to add and click OK.
You will see all of the categories you selected listed. If you need to add more categories from another asset category follow the same process by clicking the Add Categories link again. If you change your mind about any of the categories you have already selected, you can click the X next to them to remove them.
To start selecting the primary region click the Select Category link.
The Select a category box will pop up. Click on Article Region to get to the list of categories.
The Select a category box will pop up. Select the region and click OK.
If the article was not created by one of Avnet's regions enter the URL of the original source.
Enter the article title.
Enter the OG title. Please note the title is limited to 60 characters maximum.
To add the image, click the select button. The library selection box will pop up.
Find your image in the library, select it and click OK.
You will see the image is now loaded. To change the image, click select again and follow the same steps.
Click the expand arrow next to Image Attributes and add the Image Alternate Text.
Enter the article image caption. Please note the recommended character max is 140 (approximately 2 lines).
If using a different image for social media, click select to add the image and follow the same steps for adding an image explained above.
If an OG image is used the Image Alternate text needs to be added. Click the expand arrow next to Image Attributes and add the Image Alternate Text.
Enter the URL for the OG image. If no OG image, add the Article Image URL. This is for social media purposes. To get the image URL, right click on the image itself and select Copy image address.
Paste the URL into the image URL field. Strip out all of the highlighted parts of the URL. An example of the correct URL format is right below it.
Enter the intro text. This is displayed as the article "teaser" on the articles main landing page. Please note the intro text is limited to 250 characters maximum.
Enter the OG description. This is used for social media purposes. Please note the description is limited to 156 characters maximum.
Enter the body copy. When adding body copy please note:

If copying and pasting from another source, use the paste as plain text button (first icon highlighted below) to ensure you do not insert any styling that will interfere with any existing/brand styling.

If you forget step one, click the select all button (second icon highlighted below) and then the remove format button (third icon highlighted below).
Your content library should open. In this example the Americas content library is being used. If your content library does not open, click on Libraries to navigate to your own library. Click on Content.
The library opens to all of the main content site areas. To select an author you need the Author Biographies site area. You can either click the next button or select 50 to display 50 site areas at a time.
From there click on Author Biographies.
Find and select the author biography you want and click OK.
To start selecting the company biography click the Browse button. *Please note: the company biography should always be selected from the Company Biographies site area in your library.
Your content library should open. In this example the Americas content library is being used. If your content library does not open, click on Libraries to navigate to your own library. Click on Content.
The library opens to all of the main content site areas. To select a company you need the Company Biographies site area. You can either click the next button or select 50 to display 50 site areas at a time.
From there click on Company Biographies.
Find and select the company biography you want and click OK.
Enter the CTA text
Click the drop down to select the CTA target. The options are Self (default): opens the link in the same tab or _blank: opens the link in a new tab. The best practice is to use self if linking to a page within your site and new when linking to an external site or a document/video/download.
Enter the CTA URL. Please use the following URL formats:
1. To link to an external page: Always begin with http(s):// + URL. Example. To add a link to element14 it would be https://www.element14.com/community/welcome
2. To link to an internal page: Use the following format: /wps/portal/ + page url. Example. To add a link to this page https://www.avnet.com/wps/portal/us/solutions/iot/ you would use /wps/portal/us/solutions/iot/
*Make sure to remove the word “my” that is in front of the word “portal" if you are copying the URL from pre-prod
3. To link to a commerce page: Begin the URL from the /shop all the way to the end of the URL. Example. To link to this page https://www.avnet.com/shop/us/c/amplifiers/ you would use /shop/us/c/amplifiers/
Enter the marketing content spot. It can be HTML placed in the field or you can insert a piece of content from the library (see the following steps). Marketing content spots will appear at the top of the article's right rail.
To insert a piece of content from the library click the Insert Tag button.
The Insert a Tag box will pop up. Click the Select a tag type drop down and select Content.
Click the Select item context drop down and select Selected.
Click the Select content button.
Find your content in the library, select it and click OK.
You will see the reference to the content you selected. Click OK again.
The tag is now inserted.
Add any additional information here. The same protocol applies here as with the body content:

You can add up to 5 helpful links. You can add a URL (internal or external) or link to a document from the content library.

2. To link to an internal page: Use the following format: /wps/portal/ + page url. Example. To add a link to this page https://www.avnet.com/wps/portal/us/solutions/iot/ you would use /wps/portal/us/solutions/iot/

To add a URL enter the URL in the Type a URL field and the link text in the Link text field. If you want to use the URL as the link text instead, check the Use URL as link text box.
To link to a document select Web Content.
The content library will open. You need to be in the Global Asset Library to select content. Click on Libraries highlighted below.
Click on the Global Asset Library.
Find your content in the Global Asset library, select it and click OK.
