Adding a Component to a Page
To start adding components to your page, click on the Add Page Components icon on the Site Toolbar on the left hand side of your screen.
The Page Components window will open. Click on Components. There are other Page Component options and functions available but they are not being used in the normal day to day content creation for Avnet. Do not use those options.
This opens a windows with all the custom components created for the avnet.com site. There are currently 39 custom components but the list gets updated and components get added.
In this example, the Hero Banner component will be placed at the top of the page. Left click the component to select it and while holding your left click button down, drag the Hero Banner component down and drop it into the top slot of the layout.
Each component has its own required information you need to complete. You can find what these are in the Components section of the site.
Once a component is placed, you have to click on the Add Page Components icon again to re-open the Components menu to add your next piece of content.
Follow these same steps to continue adding components to the page. Components can be stacked on top of each other. They can also be moved around on the page. To move a component, hover over the menu area until you get this symbol
Click and hold your left mouse button and drag and drop the component in the desired slot.
Adding an existing piece of content to your page
To add an existing piece of content, click on the Add Page Components ico to open the Page Components window.
Click on the Applications tab. To add the content you will use a Web Content Viewer. The best way to find it is to type Web Content into the Sort: Title field and click the Search icon.
You should then see the following window:
Left click on the Web Content Viewer and while holding your left click button down, drag the Web Content Viewer into the desired slot.
Your component may look a little strange but don’t worry. By default it picks up the content from which ever component is at the very top of your page. To add content to the Web Content Viewer, click the drop down arrow on the Display Portlet Menu and select Edit Shared Settings. NEVER use the Configure
Click on the Edit link under the Content section.
Drill down in your library until you find your piece of content. Select it and click OK.
Click OK again at the very bottom of the Shared Settings window for the Web Content Viewer.
Now you can see the content piece you just pulled in from your library.
