Applications
Relay and fuse replacements are not limited to power distribution. The body control module (BCM), for example, is more than a decade ahead of the power distribution center (PDC). Today, you will find very few relays or fuses in the BCM. Furthermore, the BCM offers a perfect infrastructure, enabling you to move dedicated relay and fuse functions from the PDC to the BCM without incurring any additional cost for the supply, control, and communication devices. This is one of the reasons why the number of switches in the BCM has dramatically increased in recent years.
Looking beyond the BCM, there is a growing number of other modules in today’s vehicles hosting more and more relay and fuse functions. In addition, we are seeing an increasing number of new applications that are designed from the ground up on the basis of electronics.

BCMs, LED modules, interior lighting modules, door/window lift modules, seat adjustment / ventilation / pneumatics modules, power doors / lift gate modules, sun roof and rooftop modules, and central locking / car access / immobilizer modules
