The ESDCAN series improves the quality of protection of the high-speed CAN and LIN transceivers without affecting the capacitance budget and reduces PCB size by 75% compared to conventional solutions.

SOD-123 / SOD-128

Even in large and powerful structures, the smallest changes can make a world of a difference, which is why ST launched Schottky and ultrafast diodes for general, industrial, and automobile applications in SOD123Flat and SOD128Flat packages. Ignoring even the smallest details is a fatal mistake that can cause massive failures or render a design unusable. Similarly, a change of packaging still has tremendous repercussions, especially when a component appears numerous times throughout a board and designers are continually aiming to build smaller PCBs to save costs and improve reliability. Additionally, automakers must also achieve the lightest designs possible to optimize a vehicle’s performance or safety features, which requires the constant improvement of every single component present on the PCB.
The SOD123Flat devices go up to 2 A, while the SOD128Flat go up to 5 A and are all certified for the automotive industry. It is common to find both of them in LED lighting systems, mobile applications, motor drivers, reverse battery protection circuits, or small power converters.

Triacs

ST - Triacs offer a very compact solution for switching loads on AC power lines.

Not limited by electromechanical ageing contingencies, triacs have a much longer lifespan compared to relays with circuits respecting specification boundaries.

With a voltage range from 600 to 800 V and up to 1200 V for certain industrial devices, ST's portfolio covers medium-power AC loads with 1 to 50 A triacs.

With a range of driveable AC loads from 120 to 240 V, the list of circuits benefiting from ST triacs includes:

  • Dimmers
  • All types of AC mains on-off switches
  • Home or office copy/printer appliances, as well as industrial motor starters or SSRs
  • Gardening tools
  • Automated irrigation systems
  • And a wide variety of automation controllers for factories, buildings and homes
     

With the most complete Triac portfolio, ST is a market leader in this segment and constantly developing new technologies like for example the T-Series Triacs rated at 150 Celsius degrees & 800V.


Focus: (T-series)

ST’s T-series Triacs are designed for the ever increasing number of AC loads in appliance control. These AC appliance switches meet both the immunity and high-commutation needs, offering a cost-effective solution.

For this series, both immunity (dV/dt) and commutation capability (dI/dt)c are specified, as well as the low gate current. This last parameter is key, as it helps optimize the power supply and allows direct drive capability through a single resistance between the microcontroller and the Triac, for all 10 mA gate types. 

6 to 20 A T-series Triacs with 35 mA gate types and 800 V capability are now available in a D²PAK package, providing improved EMC immunity and commutation for a wider range of loads.

The trade-off of surge current (I TSM) versus immunity and commutation capability is improved. This is one step ahead of the usual offer, and a unique range in the market.
