Construction is on schedule and the site should be fully operational from spring 2025.

The new high-performance distribution center is Avnet's third logistics location in Europe, alongside Poing (Germany) and Tongeren (Belgium). Phil Gallagher, CEO of Avnet, comments on the investment in the site: "Europe is one of the most successful regions for Avnet's global business. Germany is one of our key markets. We are delighted that we can continue to grow at such an important location for us in Europe. Avnet Logistics are specialists in handling electronic components, providing ESD protection and operating quality-management systems based on ISO 9001, EN61340-5-1 & 2, ISO 14001 and J-STD020 & 033.

The Logistic Center in Poing is certified according to EN9120 and demonstrates its conformance to aviation, space and defence industry standards. EN9120 specifies additional management system requirements towards quality, safety and reliability within the supply chain of the Aerospace industry. This includes the chain of custody, traceability, stock control and availability of records.

The warehouse Poing 1 has a total storage area of 27.500m² with 157.000 stock locations in the shelf area and another 12.000 locations in the pallets area.

The warehouse Poing² was built in 2011. The warehouse consists of a total area of 32.000m² (expanded by 7.500m²) with 289.000 storage locations in the shelf area and additional 45.000 locations in the Autostore.

The Autostore

The Autostore is a unique worldwide-patented warehouse system proven to be the ideal small-goods handler. With standardised boxes stacked in a cube, it is the most space-efficient goods-to-man system on the market. Besides that, there are 31.000 storage locations in the pallet area. The warehouse also features a sequencer, whose task is to collect all the individual items of orders and shipments, sort, store, save and perform together. The sequencer's performance is far above the current industry standard: twelve independent shuttles in three equally independent lanes allow 1200 called games per lane. Sufficient for each job density and a significant relief for picking.

The Tongeren Distribution Center handles interconnect passive and electromechanical (IP&E) products for Avnet Abacus, Avnet Integrated Solutions, MSC Technologies and Avnet Silica organizations supported by following certifications:

IEC 61340-5, JESD 625 (protection electronical components)
AEO certified (European Customs label)

The Tongeren plant is strategically located in an industrial zone in terms of available distribution carrier hubs. It was initially constructed in 1999, expanded in 2008 and reshaped during the course of 2018 and 2019. The outcome is a newly equipped warehouse with a footprint of 25.325 m² and options to expand on adjacent land of 12.000 m².
