ADAS is driving electric and autonomous vehicle innovation, and LIDAR is critical in showing the way. Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) hold the promise of the future of driving, which reduce distractions for drivers that can often lead to accidents on the roadways.

From lane departure assistance and collision avoidance to pedestrian detection, the autonomous driving market for embedded vision solutions means big opportunity for not just drivers but the designers who create new ADAS applications. The market potential, in fact, is expected to balloon to $42.4B by 2021, according to the Embedded Vision Alliance.

ON Semiconductor has all the core technologies for the massive opportunities in vehicle electrification as well. Product offerings include IGBTs, high voltage gate drivers, super junction rectifiers, high voltage MOSFETs, high voltage DC-DC, as well as wide band gap (WBG) developments in silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN) for next generation solutions. Beyond silicon development, investments in advanced packaging include high power modules, single/dual sided cooled and dual sided direct cooled packages.

To make sure your automotive designs are as safe as they are exciting, work with Avnet and ON Semiconductor.

In today’s automotive landscape, there are higher capabilities than ever across computational, sensing, and actuating, all of which ensure that system designs can produce autonomously controlled vehicles whether it’s for actively assisting basic driving functions or even to help prevent accidents.

MARS: Modular automotive reference system

Platforms like MARS help developers and engineers create next generation systems by providing a complete imaging solution for camera system development. Not only does this reduce the design effort involved in deploying these systems, it also speeds time to market by offering the resources required to develop a working solution quickly.

Designers can unite different combinations of communication standards, image signal processors and image sensors within MARS’ unique, compact form factor. What’s more, the included component boards sport consistent signal/power interconnect to enable users to swap individual boards, creating a wide range of options for experimenting, while eliminating the need for constructing custom boards. The result is a highly flexible solution where the various modules are fully interchangeable.
