EV Charging Discovery Days

online, on-demand

Fueled by government incentives and a drive towards carbon neutrality, new electric car registrations more than doubled in 2020.

The industry is rapidly gaining pace, and in the next few years, petrol and diesel cars will be phased out, to be replaced by clean and energy efficient electric vehicles.

Today, whilst the availability and rate of recharging remains a hurdle, it also presents a huge revenue opportunity across private and public sectors. The race is on as supermarkets, hotels and energy providers seek to gain competitive advantage and loyalty by providing effective EV charging to their customers.

Join the experts from Avnet Silica and our supplier partners at this webinar series where you will learn more about Connectivity, MCU, Power, Cloud, Services, HMI, power-line communication and many other solutions that will support you in designing modern connected systems.

Topics

Forecourt of the Future

The landscape of refuelling is changing rapidly and with new government direction, the UK is set for significant change within the next ten years. With no new petrol and diesel vehicles, there is an opportunity to look differently at the concept of petrol station and turn the current filling station format on its head to bring digital shopping to the fore whilst focusing on the customer journey and experience.

ST’s SiC MOSFETs, Gate Drivers and STM32 Digital Power in PFC converters for EV Charging Station

With this presentation, we’ll give you an overview of the new STDES-VIENNARECT, STDES-PFCBIDIR and STEVAL-DPSTPFC1 solutions developed for several end applications such as: Electric vehicle, industrial dattery chargers and UPS, Active Front End (AFE) stage in high power charging stations.

Computer on Module and HMI EV Charging Applications

In this session, we’ll give you an overview of Avnet’s' manufacturing and embedded capabilities. We’ll present COM modules, HMI/Display technologies as well as Wireless technologies and software services and introduce you to our ecosystem of partners for turn-key solutions around key vertical markets - eg. EV Charging.

Azure Sphere Security for EV Charging

What is Azure Sphere? With increasing numbers of connected devices such as EV chargers, security at the edge is key. Microsoft’s solution to this is Azure Sphere. Azure Sphere is a comprehensive IoT security solution incorporating hardware, software and the cloud. Azure Sphere can be built into new devices as well as retrofitted to existing devices to enable secure IoT solutions.

How can Azure Sphere help you?

  • Best in class security – partner with Microsoft and Avnet Silica to secure connected devices like EV chargers with Azure Sphere
  • Potential investment – we have the opportunity to pitch for investments from Microsoft for POCs and pilots (subject to approval)
  • Lead generation – co-sell motion with Microsoft sales teams to help promote your products and solutions to reach new customers

Connectivity Solutions for EV Charger

In this session, we will present Quectel’s solutions on: Radio access zechnologies on EV Charger, smart modules, hardware design modules, software design, LTE Modules, EC2x hardware/software/QuecOpen, and antenna solutions.

Make or Buy? A Market Overview on existing solutions for charging stations and electric vehicles

As always: You do not need to do everything yourself. There are plenty of options to build on existing solutions that we will present to you in a market overview. In this session, we will show you how in-tech smart charging aims to be the leading solution provider that supports you in all aspects of future-proof charging communication and control.

We will also show how we can support you by bundling the need of multiple customers to make a larger impact on the market, legislation and regulation then a single customer would be able to.

3-Phase EV Charging for Fast Charging Solutions

For fast charging solutions, single grid cannot provide enough power - a 3-Phase grid connection is mandatory.

During this session, we will review the topologies used for 3-Phase AC-DC and high power and high voltage DC-DC.

For such topologies, modules are the more adequate building piece. onsemi’s module portfolio for 3-Phase EV charging will be presented and related evaluation boards introduced.

EV Charging Station Solutions

Transportation continues to migrate from its reliance on fossil fuel and the internal combustion engine at an ever-increasing rate. This trend to eMobility and cleaner battery energy sources will require efficient and effective solutions without adverse impact to the electrical distribution infrastructure, national security and the user.

As a result, the functional requirements of both AC and DC electric vehicle charging stations continue to evolve as do the key needs and design challenges for all the major stakeholders. In this presentation, we will highlight the key design challenges, such as accuracy, security, scalability and how NXP technology, enablement and platforms can be used to address these challenges.

EV Charging Security Solutions

Smart charging is creating huge opportunities but it also adds security risks to the equation. Home solar panels, windmills and power grid, all these need to be securely connected for the charging process to run smoothly.
